Firebird in Six Flags America ( Upper Marlboro , Maryland , USA ) is a steel roller coaster from the Stand-Up Coaster model from the manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard , which was opened on May 25, 2012 as Apocalypse , under which name it ran until 2019. It originally opened in Six Flags Great America on April 28, 1990 as the first roller coaster built by Bolliger & Mabillard after the company was founded.

For the 2019 season, the track was rebuilt so that it is no longer a stand-up roller coaster, but a floorless roller coaster .

The 884 m long route reaches a height of 31 m and has a 27 m high first drop on which the trains can reach a top speed of 89 km / h. As inversions one were looping and a corkscrew installed.

The track can also be seen in a scene in the film Richie Rich , in which Richie Rich ( Macaulay Culkin ) and three of his friends take a lap on the track.

Trains

Firebird has two trains with six cars each (stand-up: seven cars). Four people (one row) can be seated in each car. Shoulder straps are used as a restraint system. The passengers must be at least 1.37 m tall to be allowed to ride.
