Irrigation Way in Leeton

The Irrigation Way is a connecting road in the southwest of the Australian state of New South Wales . It connects the Newell Highway in Narrnadera with the Kidman Way and Burley Griffin Way in Griffith .

course

The Irrigation Way branches off at Narrandera from the Newell Highway (N39) to the northwest. It first runs along the north bank of the Murrumbidgee River and then turns north until it reaches Leeton . There it takes a north-westerly direction again and passes through the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area , an agricultural area that is irrigated by the river of the same name.

At Whitton Settlement , the road turns sharply north and runs about 15 km in that direction. Then they bend again sharply to the west and reaches in Yoogali the Burley Griffin Way (S94), with whom she runs the last kilometer to Griffith and ends there on Kidman Way (S87).

meaning

The Irrigation Way connects the cities of Griffith and Leeton to the Newell Highway in Narrandera. It thus forms the link between the important medium-sized centers of agricultural production and the national highway network and the important markets in Melbourne and Sydney .
