The Burley Griffin Way is a main road in the south of the Australian state of New South Wales . It connects the Hume Highway southwest of Bowning with the Kidman Way in Griffith .

Origin of name and meaning

The street was named after Walter Burley Griffin , an American architect. Burley Griffin designed the cities of Canberra and Griffith.

It connects - together with the Hume Highway and the Barton Highway - the two cities. Their economic importance lies in the connection of the western Riverina and the areas on the Murrumbidgee River to the markets in Sydney , Melbourne and Canberra. Heavy traffic makes up a large proportion of all traffic on this road.

course

Southwest of Bowning , the Burley Griffin Way branches off the Hume Highway (N31) to the northwest. A Bowning bypass was recently built at this point, over which the road runs and a new connection to the Hume Highway was added. The Burley Griffin Way leads via Binalong and Harden to Wallendbeen , where it crosses the Olympic Highway (R41).

Via Temora , where the road crosses Goldfields Way (S85), it continues west-northwest to the Newell Highway (N39), with which it runs for approx. 12 km to Ardlethan . It continues its way west, past Cocoparra National Park , via Yenda to Griffith, where it ends at Kidman Way (S87).
