The Olympic Highway is a main road in the south of the Australian state of New South Wales . It connects the Mid-Western Highway in Cowra with the Hume Highway north of Albury .

The Olympic Highway branches off in Cowra from the Mid-Western Highway to the south-southwest. The road continues southwest through Young and Cootamundra and meets the Kidman Way (S85) west of Junee . Together with him, the Olympic Highway reaches Wagga Wagga approx. 40 km further , where it crosses the Murrumbidgee River and crosses the Sturt Highway (N20).

From Wagga Wagga the Olympic Highway pulls again to the south-southwest over The Rock and Culcain . 21 km north of Albury he reaches the Hume Highway (N31) and ends.

The way of the Olympic flame

At the 1956 Summer Olympics , the Olympic flame was carried along this road from Cowra to Wagga Wagga en route from Cairns to Melbourne . At the 2000 Summer Olympics , the Flame en route to Sydney in mid-August followed the same route but in the opposite direction.
