Isa Bey Mosque (Skopje)
The Isa Bey Mosque ( Albanian Xhamia e Isa Beut , Turkish İsa Bey Cami , Macedonian Иса-бегова џамија ) is one of the most important Ottoman architectural monuments in the Macedonian capital Skopje .
The building is located northeast of the central, Ottoman old town of Skopje.
history
In 1475 the mosque was built by Isa-Beg Ishaković , grandson of the Conqueror of Skopje Pasha Yiğit Bey. Isa-Beg was also the founder of many other buildings in Skopje such as the Çifte-Hammām and he is considered the founder of the cities of Sarajevo and Novi Pazar .
Construction
The mosque was part of a complex consisting of a madrasa , an imaret (soup kitchen) and a library.
The prayer room is covered by two domes of identical size and the portico by five smaller ones. The monumental marble portal is particularly worth seeing .

In the courtyard of the mosque is the oldest tree of Skopje, probably planted when the mosque was founded.
The Isa Bey Mosque also housed Naqshbandi - dervishes .
