Isa Mustafa (born May 15, 1951 in Prapaštica near Priština , FVR Yugoslavia ) is a Kosovar politician ( LDK ). He was Prime Minister of Kosovo between 2014 and 2017 . Since 2010 he has been party chairman of Lidhja Demokratie e Kosovës (LDK).

life and career

Isa Mustafa finished primary and secondary school in Pristina. He studied economics at the University of Pristina . His dissertation dealt with management and finance. Mustafa is also a Master in Organization.

In 1974 Mustafa started working as a teacher at the University of Pristina. From 1984 to 1988 Mustafa was President of the Pristina City Council. From 1991 to 1999 he was Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance in the Kosovar Albanian government-in-exile. After the war, Mustafa became involved as a scientist and researcher at the University of Pristina and the Riinvest Institute . Mustafa was President of the Supervisory Board of Bank Dardania , as well as a member of the Supervisory Board of Banka e Re , Universiteti i Kosovës , American University in Kosovo and Banka Qendrore e Kosovës . Mustafa was also on the board of the LDK from 2006 until his election as mayor of Pristina in December 2007 .

Between 2007 and 2013 he was mayor of Pristina and had to hand over the office to Shpend Ahmeti ( VV ). This ended the 15-year era of the LDK in the capital.

On November 7, 2010, he replaced Sejdiu as party chairman with 235 delegate votes for himself and 124 votes for Fatmir Sejdiu .

In March 2016, when asked by the investigative news portal Insajderi.com, Mustafa confirmed that his brother Ragip had joined the stream of migrants to Germany and had applied for political asylum there. As justification, Mustafa cited that his brother needed special medical treatment that was not available in Kosovo. He also stated that some of his nephews and nieces had tried to obtain asylum, but are now back in Kosovo.

On May 10, 2017, the government led by Mustafa overthrew via a vote of no confidence . 78 out of 120 members of parliament voted in favor of the dismissal, including those of the Democratic Party of Parliament President Kadri Veseli, which is part of the government .

On September 9, 2017, Ramush Haradinaj ( AAK ) succeeded Isa Mustafa as Prime Minister.
