The Isarsteg Nord is a footbridge opened in 2015 for pedestrians and cyclists across the Isar in Freising .

A connection at this point was included in the land use plan in 1998. The footbridge creates a connection between the Lerchenfeld district and the old town of Freising , Neustift and the Luitpoldanlage. The groundbreaking for the bridge was on September 25, 2014. Exactly one year later, the footbridge was opened by Mayor Tobias Eschenbacher , Minister of State Helmut Brunner and the architect Christoph Mayr. The construction was supported with 756,000 euros from the LEADER funding program of the European Union.

construction

The footbridge begins on the north bank of the Isar at the flood dike , first leads about 50 m, with two slight bends, through the alluvial forest and then crosses the riverside path. This can be reached via stairs. The main opening over the river measures about 58 m. On the south bank the bridge bends to the west and descends over a length of about 55 m towards the riverside path. From the bend, a staircase leads directly to the riverside path.

The bridge is a steel composite structure with a constant construction height of 1.2 m. It consists of a triangular, airtight and watertight welded steel box with a variable cross-section on which a 15 cm thick and 3 m wide cover plate made of reinforced concrete lies. Weatherproof structural steel was used for the construction .
