Isidiella is a genus of butterflies from the family of cosmopterigidae (Cosmopterigidae).

features

The representatives of the genus are small butterflies with lanceolate front wings and a pointed apex. The forewings have a shiny gold basic color and a pattern of large white costal spots and pale gold shiny raised spots. The hind wings are half as wide as the fore wings and are very pointed.

In the males, the tegumen is wide at the base, distally it is rounded. The right brachium is strong and about a quarter longer than the left. The apex is not widened. The blades are short and spatulate. The right valvella is very large and extends beyond the aedeagus . It is flattened dorso-ventrally and curved downwards. The left valvella is greatly reduced or absent entirely. The aedeagus is straight, the basal half is bulbous.

In the females, the apophyses posteriores are a quarter longer than the apophyses anteriores . The sterigma is sickle-shaped. The ductus bursae is about as long as the corpus bursae or shorter. The corpus bursae is oval to sack-shaped and membranous. At the back there is an elongated process that ends in the seminal duct. There are two cup-shaped signs.

distribution

The representatives of the genus are native to Central Europe , the Mediterranean and South Africa.

biology

The caterpillars minieren in leaves or live in cocoons to the terminal leaves of the basket bloom plants (Asteraceae).

Systematics

The following list of species is based on the World catalog of cosmopterigid moths compiled by Sinev in 2002 . The type species of the genus is Stagmatophora nickerlii Nickerl , 1864.
