The Isingsalen ( Norwegian for [sic!] Icing saddle ) is an icy mountain saddle in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . In the Sverdrupfjella it lies between the Isingen and the Salknappen .
The first aerial photographs were taken during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of Alfred Ritscher . Norwegian cartographers, who also named it, mapped the saddle using measurements and aerial photographs of the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1949–1952) and aerial photographs of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960) created between 1958 and 1959 .
