Iskra Velinova

Iskra Velinowa ( Bulgarian Искра Велинова ; born August 8, 1953 in Sofia ) is a former Bulgarian rower who reached three Olympic finals.

At the 1975 World Championships in Nottingham, the double scull in the line-up of Iskra Velinova , Werka Alexiewa , Trajanka Wladimirowa , Svetlana Gintschewa and helmsman Stanka Wrakilowa won the silver medal behind the boat from the GDR. The following year, the Bulgarian double foursome finished fourth at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal .

In 1977 Welinowa switched to the single and won the silver medal at the World Championships in Amsterdam behind Christine Scheiblich from the GDR . At the World Championships in 1978 Velinova took fourth place and 1979 sixth place in the single. In 1980 she switched to the foursome with a taxwoman . At the 1980 Olympic regatta , the Bulgarian four-man with Ginka Gjurowa , Marijka Modewa , Rita Todorowa , Iskra Velinova and helmsman Nadezhda Filipowa won the silver medal behind the GDR four-man.

1981 returned to Welinowa Skull rowing back and won with Anka Bakowa in the double sculls the bronze medal at the World Championships in Munich . In 1983 she took sixth place with Rumjana Potschilejewa . After Welinowa had rowed to eighth place in the single in 1985 , she reached fourth place in the double scull with Violeta Ninowa at the 1986 World Championships . At the end of her career, Welinova competed at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul in double fours and finished fourth like twelve years earlier.
