San Salvador (dt. Holy Savior ) or Santiago or James Island (after the Spanish or English name for the apostle James the Elder ) is one of the Galapagos Islands . It is 585 km². The highest point on the island is 907 meters above sea level. Iguanas , sea ​​lions , seals , tortoises and turtles , flamingos , dolphins and sharks live on and around the island . Goats and sheep introduced by humans did significant damage to native species. Darwin's finches and Galapagos buzzards can be spotted just as well as seal colonies. Recently, a lava flow can be viewed at Sullivan Bay.
