The Islamic University of Imam al-Auzāʿī ( Arabic جامعة الإمام الأوزاعي الإسلامية, DMG Ǧāmiʿat al-imām al-Auzāʿī al-islāmīya ) or Imam-al-Ouzai University ( English Imam Al-Awza'i University ) is a Lebanese private university that is recognized by the Lebanese state and is based in Beirut . It is named after al-Auzāʿī (d. 774 in Beirut), an important Islamic legal scholar of the 8th century in Syria and founder of his own school of law ( Auzāʿīya ), and was founded in 1979 during the Lebanese civil war .
Above all, Islamic studies are carried out at the university. It is accredited by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education and affiliated with the Association of Universities of the Islamic World . Signer of the Amman Message ( Amman Message ) the professors were Zakariyya Abd Al-Razzaq Al-Misri and Ahmad Al-Sahmarani . The personalities Mouhanad Khorchide and Benjamin Idriz , who worked in Germany , acquired theological exams on theirs.
The university is closely related to Fiqh al-aqallīyāt (The First Elaboration of the Concept) .
