Isle of Fethaland is a peninsula in the north of Mainland , the main island of about Scotland scoring Shetlands . In the north it runs out at the Point of Fethaland , the northernmost point of Mainland. Since this cape marks the border of two seas as defined by the International Hydrographic Organization , the west coast of Isle of Fethaland is part of the North Atlantic , the east coast of the North Sea . To the south, the Isle of Fethaland is connected to Fethaland and the rest of the Mainland by a low, narrow isthmus . Here you can find the structural remains of Fedeland , a settlement formerly inhabited by fishermen during the summer fishing season. They are designated as a Scheduled Monument and are therefore under monument protection. Isle of Fethaland has a length of about 900 meters and a width of 300 meters and reaches a height of 64 meters. The peninsula is in the Community Council Area of Northmavine .

On the east coast, near the Cleber Geos, there is a deposit of soapstone with traces of earlier mining. The Northern Lighthouse Board has been operating an automated lighthouse on the Isle of Fethaland since 1977 . Its construction is linked to the commissioning of the Sullom Voe oil terminal .
