Islero (* unknown, † 1947 ) was a fighting bull bred by the Ganadería Miura near Sevilla , of the August 28, 1947 Spanish bullfighter Manolete impaled, who died as a result.

Islero was born on an unknown date. His father was the bull Formalito , his mother the cow Islera . Islero weighed 495 kg and was the fifth bull of the day and the second to face Manolete in the arena of Linares , a town in the province of Jaén in Andalusia . Although the Miura animals are considered particularly dangerous, Manolete attacked the animal directly by the horns instead of choosing the safe route from the side. Manolete had already thrust his sword into his body when Islero stuck a horn into the torero's right thigh. Before Islero died, he tried to impale the wounded Manolete several more times. The man died the following night despite medical care in the medical room of the bullring.

Commemoration

Today opponents of the bullfight sell statuettes from Islero in front of the arenas.

The Lamborghini Islero , an Italian sports car , was named after Islero .
