The Islotes Furque are a group of islands and cliffs in the Joinville Islands group off the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula . They belong to the Wideopen Islands north of Joinville Island . The largest island in the group is called Islote Furque .
Scientists of an Argentine Antarctic expedition carried out from 1953 to 1954 named her after Segundo Furque, a crew member of the corvette Uruguay during the rescue trip carried out in 1903 for the troubled participants of the Swedish Antarctic expedition (1901-1903) under the direction of Otto Nordenskjöld .
