Iso Pfau (born November 17, 1616 as Hieronymus Pfau von Überlingen , † March 16, 1679 ) was the librarian of the St. Gallen monastery from 1661 to 1679 .

Life

Father Iso was the son of Sebastian Pfau and Anna Wüerglin. In 1682 he is attested in the monastery of St. Gallen, where he made his profession on December 8, 1632 . In 1637 he became a subdeacon , in 1639 a deacon . He was ordained a priest on December 22nd, 1640, the primacy followed on December 30th of the same year.

Act

From 1639 Father Iso worked as a teacher, first in St. Gallen, then also in Rorschach . From 1642 he was a conductor and teacher in St. Gallen. This was followed by a longer activity in St. Johann and then again in Rorschach. From 1653 he is attested as sub-cantor in St. Gallen, on July 21, 1661 he was appointed abbey librarian. As is known, he is the author of the writings Temperantia virtus cardinalis ejusdemque partes subjectae ac vitia opposita (1635) and Collectarium sive summarium privilegiorum abbatibus et religiosis monasteriorum exemtorum ordinis Benedictini per Helvetiam from Urbano papa VIII. (1665).
