Dionys Mattlin

Dionys Mattlin (born January 15, 1640 in Oberriet as Vitalinus Mattlin ; † October 6, 1700 ) was the librarian of the St. Gallen monastery from 1679 to 1680 .

Father Dionys was the son of Jakob Mattli and Anna Enisin (Enis). The baptismal name was 'Uorich' (Ulrich). In 1659 he is attested in the monastery of St. Gallen, where he made his profession on May 8, 1661 . In 1663 he became a subdeacon , in 1664 a deacon . He was ordained a priest on September 19, 1665, the primacy followed on October 4 of the same year.

From 1665 Father Dionys was initially a teacher of catechism, Greek and rhetoric, from 1672 also of philosophy and theology. In 1674 he was sent to Kempten by Abbot Gallus Alt , where he helped out in the monastery archive as a guest father until 1678. After a short time as assistant to the governor in Wil , he was appointed abbey librarian on October 11, 1679 . In 1680 he became apostolic notary , in 1681 corn lord and vestiarius . In 1684 he is attested as master chef in Wil and as confessor in St. Katharina . On May 30, 1695 he was appointed governor. He wrote a printed and several unprinted fonts in which he processed the Gallus material .
