Press review

General importance as an artist

"Isol creates picturebooks from the eye level of the child. Her pictures vibrate with energy and explosive emotions. With a restrained palette and ever-innovative pictorial solutions, she shifts ingrained perspectives and pushes the boundaries of the picturebook medium. Taking children's clear view of the world as her starting point, she addresses their questions with forceful artistic expression and offers open answers. With liberating humor and levity, she also deals with the darker aspects of existence. "

A Duckling Can Be So Useful (2012)

“The expressive, dynamic-looking drawings show a little girl in front of an empty ground who knows how to do a lot more with her rubber duck than to let her swim in the bath water. In the text, the girl comments on her game in an often surprising way. The real highlight of the small graphic work of art only reveals itself after the leporello has been completely unfolded: On the back we find the same drawings with a text from the view of the duckling. The change of perspective is graphically signaled by a reversal of the colors of the figure and the ground. In this way, the booklet conveys a concentrated load of literary, visual and, last but not least, media experiences. A great pleasure for semiotics and bibliophiles from the age of two. "
