Isolde Frölian

Isolde Frölian (* 8. April 1908 ; † 6. November 1957 ) was a German gymnast and Olympic champion.

At the Olympic Games in 1936 an Olympic team competition for gymnasts took place for the second time after 1928. Isolde Frölian from Dresden took eighth place in the points ranking. With Gertrud Meyer , Erna Bürger , Käte Sohnemann , Isolde Frölian, Anita Bärwirth , Paula Pöhlsen as well as Friedl Iby and Julie Schmitt , the German team won the gold medal three points ahead of the team from Czechoslovakia.

After Isolde Frölian's death, the Dresden substitute gymnast Marga Barby inherited the gold medal from 1936, and the medal remained in her possession until her death in 2004.
