The Isole dello Stagnone di Marsala are a small group of islands in the Mediterranean Sea off the west coast of Sicily on the territory of the Sicilian city of Marsala .
The Italian word stagno means "pond", with stagnone ("large pond") the Sicilian lagoon , which is about 2000 hectares and is the largest , which is bordered by the Isola Grande and in which the three other islands are located.
The lagoon, which is traditionally used for salt production in salt pans, and the islands have been protected as the Isole dello Stagnone regional nature reserve since 1984 . Typical flora include Aleppo pine , dwarf palm and bamboo , the marigold endemic to Sicily , as well as samphire and sea onion . The fauna of the lagoon, which is very shallow with a depth of 0.50 to 2 m, is rich in species, and a large number of songbirds breed on the islands .

- Isola Grande or Isola Longa , with around 5.7 km² by far the largest island in the group
- San Pantaleo , the only inhabited island with an area of around 45 hectares and 10 inhabitants (2001 census), and the ruins of the Phoenician city of Mozia
- Santa Maria , with an area of around 18 hectares
- La Schola or La Scuola , with 0.33 hectares the smallest of the four islands.
