Israel Jacobs

Israel Jacobs (born June 9, 1726 in Montgomery County , Province of Pennsylvania , †  December 10, 1796 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1791 and 1793 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Israel Jacobs grew up during the British colonial era. He attended public schools in his home country and then worked in agriculture and trade. Between 1770 and 1774 he was a member of the Pennsylvania Colonial House of Representatives. After that, he only reappeared politically in 1790. At that time he was a supporter of the federal government under President George Washington ( pro-administration group ).

In the congressional elections of 1790 Jacobs was elected to the US House of Representatives in the third constituency of Pennsylvania, where he took over the seat of George Clymer on March 4, 1791 . Until March 3, 1795 he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Jacobs returned to farming. He died on December 10, 1796.
