Israel La'ad (in German: Israel for Eternity) was founded in 2004 as a non-profit aid organization in Israel with the aim of advocating for the needs of the underprivileged in Israeli society. In addition, the charity Israel La'ad offers learning centers for free afternoon homework help for children in need, cycling programs for socially vulnerable young people and a special Shabbat meal package delivery program for Shoah survivors. Israeli entrepreneurs, students and friends from abroad are helping. Since 2009, thanks to German and Israeli donations, Israel La'ad has been awarding scholarships for professional training to young students whose families from Ethiopia came to Israel as new immigrants. In Germany, the non-profit Israeli aid organization is represented by the German non-profit association Israel Laad Freunde eV and Ari Lipinski.

Shabbat food packages

Shabbat meal packages is a food delivery program in the cities of Ashdod , Jawne and Kirjat Mal'achi where there is an acute need. Volunteers deliver kosher Shabbat food packages with basic contents including two Shabbat breads to over 500 families in need every Thursday evening. The recipients are mainly elderly and lonely people, including many 70 to 80-year-old Shoah survivors or new Jewish immigrants. The program also supports young families who are under economic pressure, e.g. B. advised because of unemployment . It not only offers the needy through the regular supply of elementary kosher food, but also represents a ray of hope and solidarity in society. A special educational aspect is that the children from the needy families are activated to volunteer self-help, Motto: Help for self-help . The meal packages are z. Partly prepared and distributed by the children of recipient families. The children learn that you have to make your own contribution to coping with the need. By actively participating in charity from the donor side, they strengthen their self-esteem.

Scholarships for professional training

Israel La'ad from socio-economically weak new immigrant families in Israel through scholarships for vocational training. Thanks in particular to donations from Germany, young women of Ethiopian descent are supported in order to improve their social position through professional skills and to accelerate their integration into Israeli society.

Learning center

The Israel-Laad-Lernzentrum program helps young people at risk in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades to develop the skills - especially reading and writing - that are necessary to be able to study successfully. This age group appears to be the most pedagogically receptive to this type of help.

Israel La'ad works with young people who, according to welfare institutions, are at risk of dropping out of school or coming into contact with crime or drugs . Priority is given to the children of new immigrants who suffer from high unemployment and who have difficulties integrating into Israeli society. These children live in circumstances in which there is a lack of basic learning aids (e.g. PC), conditions for successfully completing their homework or for reworking school hours.

The program provides specially trained teachers who work individually with three to five young people. After the teacher identifies the specific weaknesses of each youth, the youth are assigned to a teacher with 1-on-1 supervision , the best care that can be given.

Cycling in the learning center

Cycling in the learning center is a cycling program for young people who are threatened with dropping out of school. It offers young people incentives and rewards to work hard in school and especially in the tutoring program. It cultivates a sense of belonging and accomplishment in them and encourages love and identification with Israel. The cycling program in the learning center was started in 2005 in the cities of Qatzrin and Gedera and has also taken place in Rehovot since 2008 .

The project received z. Partly positive feedback from teachers and social workers , who were impressed by the positive changes among the young people. It brings young people with a weak socio-economic background to success in school and involves them in a healthy sport that they would otherwise not have been able to afford.
