Israel Rumpler (* around / after 1580 in Hall in Tirol ; † 1635 in Stuttgart ) was a Württemberg court painter .

Life

Rumpler was the son of an alto from Hall in Tirol. After he came to Stuttgart, with the support of Duke Friedrich , he became an apprentice to Georg Donauer from 1601/02 to 1603/04 in return for service obligations . After Sebastian Ramminger's death , he was appointed court painter in 1617. He was largely involved in the painting work in the new building . In 1617/18 he was rewarded for extensive but unspecified work on it by the land scribe. The pictures on the ceiling of the great hall, which depict the oldest events in the House of Württemberg, as well as the monthly pictures on the pillars of the hall, presumably came from him.

In 1619 Rumpler painted the basket and the lid of the pulpit of the parish church in Vaihingen an der Enz with precious paintings . He was employed at the ducal court until his death, without any concrete painting work being attributed to him during this time. As a court painter, he also had to carry out various decorative work. In 1619 he gilded the weathercock designed by Heinrich Schickhardt for the Protestant church in Vaihingen an der Enz . In 1623/24 he decorated the tables for the duke's dinner with gold and silver.
