Isthmohyla is a genus of the tree frog family(Hylidae). It occurs in Central America on the Isthmus of Panama .
description
The genus Isthmohyla was separated from the genus Hyla in 2005 after molecular biological investigations . It is only differentiated from other genera by various genetic differentiations. So far no morphological synapomorphism of the taxon is known,
Occurrence
The distribution area of the genus Isthmohyla includes Costa Rica and Panama . Only Isthmohyla insolita occurs isolated from the distribution areas of the related species in Honduras .
Systematics
The genus Isthmohyla was founded in 2005 by Faivovich et al. first described . The type species is Isthmohyla pseudopuma , it was originally described as Hyla pseudopuma by Albert Günther in 1901.
All 14 species currently included in the genus Isthmohyla previously belonged to the genus Hyla .
