The Istind ( Norwegian for ice peaks ) is a partially iced mountain in Queen Maud Land in East Antarctica . On the east side of the Ahlmannryggen it rises 1.5 km south of the Tindeklypa .
The first aerial photographs were taken during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of Alfred Ritscher . Norwegian cartographers, who also named it, mapped the mountain using aerial photographs of the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1949–1952) and aerial photographs of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960) created between 1958 and 1959 .
