Istvàn Zelenka

Istvàn Zelenka (born July 30, 1936 in Budapest ) is a Swiss composer and performer of Hungarian and Austrian descent.

Zelenka was already intensely involved with music as a child. In 1956 he emigrated to Vienna and continued his music studies with Karl Schiske and Hans Jelinek . In 1960 he became an Austrian citizen. In 1962 Zelenka became sound engineer and artistic director in the record industry in Geneva . In 1966 he married Kati. In 1976 he was naturalized in Switzerland.

1976–2001 Zelenka was production manager and responsible for broadcasts of progressive music at Radio Suisse Romande . 1981–2001 he was a lecturer at the Conservatoire de musique de Genève . 1995 Zelenka started his activities as a performer. Since 2000 he has been working with computer-created images. The first exhibitions followed in 2002.
