István Szívós junior

István Szívós (born April 24, 1948 in Budapest ; † November 10, 2019 ) was a Hungarian water polo player .

He became Olympic champion in 1976 with the Hungarian national water polo team . He won silver in 1972 , bronze in 1968 and 1980 . In 1973 he became world champion, in 1974 and 1977 European champion. He played a total of 308 international matches for Hungary. István Szívós won nine Hungarian championships and was twice European Cup winner with OSC Budapest. In 1996 he was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame . István Szívós worked as a dentist in Budapest. His father István was Olympic champion in water polo in 1952 and 1956, his son Márton was vice world champion in 2005 and 2007.
