Istvan Kozocsa

Istvan Kozocsa (born April 13, 1940 in Budapest , Hungary) is a former basketball player and coach.

Life

Kozocsa completed his schooling in his hometown Budapest in 1958 with the Abitur, then he learned bookbinding, followed by a degree in sports.

At the age of 25 he moved to Germany. From 1967 he had a teaching position in basketball at the German Sport University in Cologne and at the same time worked as a qualified sports teacher at the Düsseldorf Education Authority from 1967 to 1970. From 1970, Kozocsa, who had an A coaching license in basketball, was a teacher for special tasks at the sports university .

In addition to his work as a sports teacher, Kozocsa was a basketball coach. He was in office at ART Düsseldorf in the 1960s, and from 1969 to 1972 he coached the ASV Cologne team in the basketball league . In the 1973/74 season, ADB Koblenz was the coach of another Bundesliga club and, in 1980/81, the women's Bundesliga club Saturn Cologne . At the beginning of the 1990s he was the coach of BSG Grevenbroich and led the club to promotion to the second regional league in the 1997/1998 season.

Kozocsa has written three textbooks on basketball, published in 1979, 1981 and 1985. He was also involved in the production of educational videos on basketball. Among other things, he worked on the research projects “Sports injuries and consequential damage in high-performance basketball” (1988 to 1991) and “Development and testing of error cards to improve the jump shot from dribbling in basketball” (1989 to 1991).
