action

Alex is a married woman and is committed to the newly opened hospice in the small Texas town of Azalea Springs . Together with her society friends, including Sloan, she visits the hospice, where she meets her friend Spencer and the nurse Grace. Spencer's partner Bruce, who has AIDS , is in the hospice. Grace is a friend of Alex from high school who surprisingly returned from the big city to work in the hospice.

That evening at the city's annual Azalea Ball , while drunk, Spencer recounts that the local city water has made him homosexual . Sloan, who is present during the conversation, overhears Spencer's irony and reports it to her friends. In the weeks that followed, panic developed in the city, which was also picked up by the local media. The son of the local newspaper publisher Mark, who is internally struggling with his homosexuality and who visits a local ex-gay group with brother Daniel, tries to contain the panic in the village. Alex and Grace renew their friendship, and Grace comes out publicly as a lesbian . Grace's husband is arrested after attacking Grace in anger. In the meantime, Mark meets the painter Tomas at an ex-gay meeting.
