Itthithepsan Kritakara

Prince Itthithepsan Kritakara (other spellings: Ittiepsan Kridakorn, Idiebsan ; Thai : อิทธิ เทพ สรรค์ กฤดา กร ; * January 16, 1890 ; † February 19, 1935 ) was a Thai architect and artist . He was a grandson of King Mongkut (Rama IV) and son of Prince Krisda Kritakara. The family was given the name Kritakara (or Kridakorn) on April 14, 1915 by King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) . It was later changed to Kridakorn / Kritakara na Ayutthaya.

Life

Itthithepsan completed his training at Harrow School in London . He then studied at the Paris Ecole des Beaux-Arts architecture . In 1917 he was appointed to the Fine Arts Department , whose chief advisor he became in 1927, having been assigned to the Royal Institute the year before.

He founded together with others in England and France trained architects Thai architects association (Association of Thai Architects). Among other things, he built for the royal family. He was responsible for the renovation of the Chakri Maha Prasat throne hall and built the Wang Klai Kangwon palace .

On November 19, 1922 he married the Princess Suriya Prabha Rabibadhana ( Thai : หม่อมเจ้า สุรีย์ ประภา รพี พัฒน์ ; 1901–1970), their daughter Mom Rajawong Riddhi Suriya Kritakara ( Thai : หม่อมราชวงศ์ ฤทธิ์ สุรีย์ กฤดา กร ; * January 26th 1928).
