Iván Trevejo Pérez (born September 1, 1971 in Havana ) is a former Cuban - French sword fencer .

successes

At the Pan American Games , Iván Trevejo won the gold medal with the team in Mar del Plata in 1995 and in Winnipeg in 1999 . In the individual he won bronze both times. In between he became world champion with the team in Cape Town in 1997 . Two years later, he won the bronze medal in the team competition. He took part in the Olympic Games twice. In 1996 in Atlanta he reached the final of the individual competition, in which he was defeated by Alexander Beketow just under 14:15. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he was sixth in the individual. In the team competition he and the Cuban team secured third place and thus the bronze medal after a final 45:31 win over South Korea .

After the World Championships in Lisbon in 2002 , Trevejo decided not to return to Cuba and settled with his wife and child in southern France, where he continued to fight at national level. In 2010 he received French citizenship and was allowed to start internationally for France. He won bronze at the 2013 World Championships with the French team and gold at the 2015 European Games in Baku, both individually and with the team.
