Ivan Martin Jirous
Ivan Martin Jirous (also known by his pseudonym Magor ; born September 23, 1944 in Humpolec , Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia ; † November 10, 2011 in Prague ) was a Czech poet , critic and art historian . He was one of the central figures of the Czech underground .
Life
Ivan Martin Jirous, was the initiator of the music group The Plastic People of the Universe , whose ban by the regime was one of the reasons for Charter 77 .
Jirous was married to Věra Jirousová, who also wrote a number of texts for the Plastic People . He was friends with Václav Havel , who mentioned him several times in his prison reflections on letters to Olga .
Ivan Martin Jirous died on November 10, 2011 at the age of 67. He was buried in the Kostelní Vydří cemetery.
