Ivan Tišov (born February 8, 1870 in Viškovci near Đakovo , Croatia-Slavonia , † September 20, 1928 in Zagreb ) was a Croatian painter .

Life

Ivan Tišov was born in Viškovci near Đakovo . He attended elementary school in his birthplace and high school in Zagreb. Scholarships enabled him to study art in Vienna and Munich . After successfully completing his art studies, he returned to Zagreb and worked as an art teacher and art professor at the Zagreb Art School until his death . Tišov belonged to a Croatian artist group led by Vlaho Bukovac . They were representatives of the realism style . His works include many portraits , including portraits of his wife Anne Neuhäuser, Vladimir Vidrić , Grgo Martić and Franjo Jakuševac . In addition, Tišov created the iconostasis of Plaško . Together with the Croatian artists Bela Čikoš Sesija , Ferdo Kovačević and Celestin Mato Medović, he was involved in the design of the iconostasis of the Greek Catholic cathedral in Križevci (Croatia) . In addition, he artistically designed the church walls in Bjelovar and Sveta Katarina . After his death he was buried in the Mirogoj cemetery .
