Ivana Banfić (born November 16, 1969 in Zagreb , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian dance and pop singer .

biography

Banfić grew up in a family of musicians and attended a music school. She has been performing as a background singer since she was fourteen. Her career began at the end of the eighties; together with Severina she moderated the popular music show Top Cup on Croatian television.

In 1990 she had her first solo appearance at the Zagreb Festival with the song Dođi (Eng. Come). Her first record was released a year later, under the name Vozi me polako ( Eng . Drive me slowly). In 1991 she took third place behind Bebi Dol and Danijel with the song Daj povedi me ( Eng . Come take me with you) in Sarajevo, at the last Yugoslav qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest . In 1993 a maxi cassette with the song Ne pitaj za mene ( Eng . Don't ask for me) was released on the Croatian market. The song itself became a relatively big hit on Croatian radio. In 1994 she recorded the CD Istinite priče vol. 1 (Eng. True Stories Part 1) under the stage name I BEE . The song Ti si bolji ( Eng . You are better), better known as Da mu nisam dala ( Eng . If I hadn't given him), was the first single from the album and her first big hit. Then the single Ja (dt. Ich) was released, which was just as successful as the first single.

After Yes , Ivana had even greater success with the song Šumica ( Eng . Grove). In addition to these three songs, Koljena (German knee), Da te mogu vratiti (German if I could get you back) and Pusti me na miru (German leave me alone) were decoupled from the second album. In addition, two other songs were released in 1994 that cannot be found on the album, but only on a promo maxi cassette: Hura (Eng. Hurray) and a duet with the singer Tony Cetinski Sto je to stalo izmedju nas ? (Eng. What happened between us?), and the track Pizzeria was also released on a compilation. In 1995 she is convincingly the best dance singer in Croatia and in that year she also released her third album Mala škola ABC (Little School ABC), the sound of which was influenced by the German dance scene. The most popular songs on this CD were the songs Cigareta (German cigarette), Šumica 2 (German forest 2) and above all Stipe i Ruza .

In 1996 her fourth studio album was released under the name Bogovi su pali na tjeme ( Eng . The gods fell on their heads ). This album contains the songs Dream and Nag (written and produced by Dino Dvornik). Dream appeared on various compilations outside of Croatia (mostly Japan). Nag (Eng. Naked ) was a duet with Dino Dvornik , one of the most famous Croatian singers. Nag was one of the songs that appeared on the debut album and was re-recorded for the album. Ivana performed for the first time at the Split Festival (Splitski Festival) this year, with the song Fatamorganaurokana . The harbinger of this album was the single Ja nisam ta ( Eng . I am not the one), which was released on maxi CD.

After a two-year hiatus, their next studio album was released in 1998 under the title Kalypso . The album should have been released under the title Sve Stvari Te ( Eng . All these things ), but because of the predominant Latin sound, the title was changed to Kalypso . That year the song Navigator became the biggest summer hit in Croatia. The album itself, like the previous one, contains some revised and re-recorded tracks from the first album. In 1999 the album Žena devedestih ( Eng . Woman of the Nineties) came out and marked a turning point in Banfić's music career. The song Imam te (Eng. I have you) will be her biggest hit so far: It was number 1 in the Croatian music charts for 20 weeks and so it became the biggest hit of the year in Croatia .

At the beginning of 2000 she met Dino Merlin , one of the most famous singers from Bosnia and Herzegovina . With him she recorded the duet Godinama ( Eng . For years), which became the best-selling and most-heard song that year in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The song Godinama earned her all three music awards at the Croatian Radio Festival (Hrvatski Radijski Festival (HRF)) and that made her the most successful Croatian singer in the last ten years.

The album Ona zna (Eng. She knows it), which came out in 2001 and on which the songs Godinama ( Eng . Years; Siegerlied HRF; Porin), Žena zna ( Eng . The woman knows; Melodije Hrvatskog Jadrana) and Predaleko ( dt. Too far; Splitski Festival), became their most successful and best-selling album; it brought her a total of 11 music awards, including the Croatian Grammy Porin for Song of the Year ( Godinama ). In 2004 her album Glamor came out, on which the hits Navodno (German supposedly) with Hari Mata Hari (Splitski Festival) and Lav u srcu (German: The lion in the heart) are.

In 2005, after 15 years of her career, she released a best-of album called Collection , which features her best and most successful songs. It's a double CD. The first CD contains the greatest hits and the second the songs which are most important to Ivana and which were not so successful. Not all hits have been released. B. songs from the first album completely and the hits from the second, third and fourth albums partially. At the end of 2006 her ninth album came out, Vjerujem (Eng. I think), with which she had another great success, because the single of the same name Vjerujem was number 1 in all Croatian music charts .
