Ivar Odnes (born May 25, 1963 in Lillehammer ; † October 5, 2018 ) was a Norwegian politician of the Senterpartiet . From September 2017 until his death he was a member of parliament in Storting .

Life

Odnes grew up in Vågå and later moved to Østre Toten . He worked there as a builder and was also active as a folk musician. Odnes was the deputy Fylkesordfører , i.e. Fylkesvaraordfører , of the then province of Oppland from 2011 to 2017 . Before that he was a member of the Fylkesting of Oppland from 2003 . From 2006 to 2014 he headed the Senterpartiet in his home province. In addition, from 2009 he was deputy chairman of the cultural organization Norsk Kulturarv .

In the 2013 parliamentary elections , Odnes missed entry into the Norwegian national parliament in Storting, after he was ranked second in Oppland. He was Vararepresentant , so a substitute member, as which he was not used. In the 2017 election , he finally got a seat in Storting as the top candidate for the constituency of Oppland. There he became a member of the Transport and Communication Committee.

In September 2018, Ivar Odnes announced that he had cancer . He died shortly afterwards on October 5, 2018. He left behind a wife, two children and a stepchild. His party colleague Bengt Fasteraune took over his seat in parliament .
