Ivo Ćipiko (born January 13, 1869 in Kaštel Novi, † September 23, 1923 in Kaštel Novi) was a Serbian writer of Croatian origin.

Life

Ćipiko came from an old Dalmatian patrician family that Kaštel Novi had once founded. The place is located on the Adriatic coast near Split . As a writer he mainly described his native world of Dalmatia , but since he had turned to the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian language, he is considered a representative of Serbian literature , more precisely Serbian realism . The change in the old patriarchal conditions of Dalmatia and Serbia in modern times is the subject of his works. He mainly wrote prose, alongside memoirs and journalistic works. The socially critical novel “Spinnen” ( Pauci ) is considered to be the main work .
