Ivan Andonow ( Bulgarian Иван Асенов Андонов ; born May 3, 1934 in Plovdiv , Bulgaria , † December 29, 2011 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian actor , film director and painter .

Life

Andonow, born in Plovdiv in 1934, trained at the National Academy for Theater and Film Arts in Sofia until 1956 and then worked as an actor at various theaters in Sofia. Andonov came to film in 1957 and made his screen debut in the film Godini sa ljubow ( Години за любов ; translated: Years of Love ). He subsequently became one of the most popular actors in Bulgaria and has also appeared in international productions, including the German science fiction film Eolomea (1972) and the Hungarian film Magasiskola (translated: The Falcons ; 1970) by István Gaál . From 1963 Andonow was also active as an animation and feature film director.
