Ivan Maksymow ( Ukrainian Іван Максимов ; born February 6, 1963 in Schmerynka ) is a former Ukrainian biathlete .

Ivan Maksymov is a teacher and lives in Ternopil . After the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the re-establishment of national associations in the successor states, he was one of the first members of the national squad of Ukraine. Almost 30 years old at the time, he had not yet made it to the international roster of the Soviet Union, although he had been biathlon since 1981. Like so many other athletes from the successor states, he benefited from the new places in the national squads. He made his international debut at the beginning of the 1992/93 season in Pokljuka in the World Cup , where he was 60th in the individual and 73rd in the sprint. The first career highlight was the interim Olympic World Championships in Borowetz in 1993 . Maksymow was only used with the relay and reached the side of Vitaliy Mohilenko , Toras Dolniy and Walentyn Dschyma in fifth place, which he secured as the final runner. In his first season, the Ukrainian also reached the points for the only time and was 80 in the overall standings of the season. The highlight and conclusion of his career was his participation in the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer , where he was 47th in the sprint, finishing fifth Ukraine did not qualify for the relay against Vitaliy Mohilenko, Walentyn Dschyma, Toras Dolniy and Roman Swonkow , which disappointed in 15th place.
