Ivan Antonowytsch Malkowytsch (born May 10, 1961 in Nyschnij Bereziv , Kosiv district , Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast ) is a Ukrainian poet and publisher, owner of the Kiev publishing house he founded in 1992 “A-ba-ba-ha-la-ma-ha ".

Ivan Malkowytsch was born as the son of a beekeeper and Anton (* 1932), who was active in various fields in the music and theater scene, and his wife Julija (born Arsenytsch, * 1941) from a well-known Ukrainian family of musicians. After finishing the local middle school, he studied music, especially violin, in Ivano-Frankivsk . In 1980 he began studying philology at the Kiev Shevchenko University , which he finished in 1985. He then worked first as a literary editor at the publishing house "Veselka", then from 1987 as editor-lecturer in the poetry department of the youth book publisher "Molod '". In 1991/1992 he worked in the editorial department of the children's magazine “Sonjašnyk”, and in 1992 he was also the chief editor of the children's program at the “Ukrtelefilm” studio. In the same year he founded the children's book publisher "A-ba-ba-ha-la-ma-ha". - With his wife Jaryna (* 1967), Malkowytsch has two sons, including the writer and journalist Taras, who was born in 1988.

In addition to his work as the founder and director of the publishing house “A-ba-ba-ha-la-ma-ha”, which with Marjana Sawka co-founded and managed the Lviv “Verlag des alten Löwen” ten years later, Malkowytsch is one of the most important Ukrainian companies Belongs to children's book and adult literature publishers, known as Poets. In addition to Viktor Neborak from “Bu-Ba-Bu” and Oleksandr Irwanets , he represents descriptive poetry, whose interest is in everyday life, ephemeral and unimportant events and feelings. As children of the politically and socially engaged generation of the “60s”, political engagement and interest are less important to them than their parents and are more indirectly expressed. Malkowytsch often accompanies his presentations as a violinist.
