Ivan Mateew Stefanov
Ivan Mateew Stefanow ( Bulgarian Иван Матеев Стефанов ; born March 15, 1899 in Varna , † October 11, 1980 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian economist .
Life
Stefanov belonged to the Bulgarian Communist Party since 1919 . He studied political science in Berlin and was a member of the KPD from 1921 to 1925 . From 1937 he worked as a professor in Swishtow and Sofia. Stefanov was a member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences .
In his scientific work he dealt in particular with statistics , which he built up in Bulgaria, and the use of mathematics in economic research.
He was honored as a Hero of Socialist Labor , the Order of Georgi Dimitrov and the Dimitrov Prize .
