Iwan Nikolajewitsch Artejew ( Russian Иван Николаевич Артеев , scientific transliteration Ivan Nikolaevič Arteev ; born March 24, 1977 ) is a former Russian cross-country skier .

Career

Artejew has been taking part in competitions of the Fédération Internationale de Ski since 2001 . He completed his first of nine World Cup races so far in January 2003 in Kavgolovo , which he finished in 17th place over 10 km freestyle and thus also got his first World Cup points. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Pragelato , he achieved 51st place in the 30 km skiathlon and 34th place over 15 km classic. In January 2007 in Rybinsk he reached eighth place in the 30 km mass start race, his best result so far in a World Cup race. Since the 2007/08 season he has mainly competed in the Eastern Europe Cup . He has won four races so far and came fourth in the overall standings in the 2009/10 season . At the Russian Championships in Rybinsk in 2009, he won the 50 km mass start race. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 , he came 52nd in the skiathlon and 35th in the 50 km mass start race.
