Ivan Stepanowitsch Kolesnikow

Ivan Stepanovich Kolesnikov ( Russian Иван Степанович Колесников , scientific. Transliteration Ivan Stepanovič Kolesnikov * December 15 . Jul / 28. December  1901 greg. In Podosinowka , Voronezh Governorate , Russian Empire ; † 18th May 1985 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) was a soviet surgeon. He has done significant work in the fields of field surgery, burn medicine , transfusion medicine and thoracic surgery.

Life

In 1921 Kolesnikow was drafted into the Red Army . From 1920 to 1921 he worked as a nurse at a war hospital during the Russian Civil War . In 1923 he finished his studies at the Feldscherschule and worked as a medical assistant for a pioneer battalion. From 1926 to 1931 he studied at the Leningrad Medical-Surgical Academy (now the Military Medical Academy SM Kirov ). In 1933 he became senior physician in the pioneer battalion. From 1932 to 1936, Kolesnikov worked as an adjunct at the Institute of Surgery of the Leningrad Medical-Surgical Academy. In 1936 he completed his doctoral thesis on blood transfusion . From 1936 he taught at the Academy's Institute for Field Surgery.

From 1937 to 1939 Kolesnikow worked as a military advisor in the military medical service of the Second Spanish Republic in the Spanish Civil War . In 1939 he took part in the Japanese-Soviet border conflict . From 1939 to 1940 he was used as a surgeon on the front lines of the Soviet-Finnish War . During World War II , Kolesnikov took part in the 13th and 54th Armies on the Western Front and the Leningrad Front . In 1942 he was promoted to chief surgeon on the Karelian Front . In 1943, Kolesnikov became chief surgeon of the Leningrad Front Military Hospital.

For the academic year 1944/45 he was elected deputy chair of the Institute of General Surgery and then of the Institute of Theoretical Surgery at the Military Medical Academy SM Kirov.

He was arrested in April 1949 and spent four years in Gulag labor camps . In 1953 he was released and rehabilitated.

In 1971 he was elected a member of the Soviet Academy of Medical Sciences.

He was awarded the Lenin Prize (1961), the title of " Hero of Socialist Labor " (1976), the USSR State Prize (1985), twice the Order of Lenin , the Order of the October Revolution , three times the Red Banner , three times the Order of the Patriotic War , the Medal "For the defense of Leningrad" and the medal "Victory over Germany" .

Kolesnikov was buried in the Bogoslovskoye Cemetery in Leningrad .
