Iwanson Sixt Foundation for Contemporary Dance
In March 2007, the Iwanson Sixt Foundation for Contemporary Dance was established in Munich as the first foundation for contemporary dance in Germany. The founder, Jessica Iwanson and Stefan Sixt have been running the Iwanson School of Contemporary Dance for over 30 years . Against the background of daily work, the foundation was established to provide dancers , choreographers and dance teachers with a rehearsal room and to motivate and support them by awarding prizes, grants and travel allowances. The foundation spends around 10,000 euros annually on these projects. Funding from the cultural department of the City of Munich enabled the foundation to rent its own rehearsal room from 2008 and to produce the series of performances for the Junge Tanz München.
future
In the future, the foundation should develop into a fully-fledged part of the institutionalized promotion of dance art and cooperate with the relevant institutions and authorities. It will organize charity events and finance grants and prizes from donations, endowments and the proceeds from the events. In the future, the foundation will also include social aspects of older dance professionals in its work: the recognition of life's work in the form of prizes, the financing of therapies or retraining, but also e.g. B. the provision of holiday homes for older dance artists.
