Hans Henning Paar (* 1966 in Kassel ) is a German dancer and choreographer . Since the 2012/2013 season he has been the artistic director and chief choreographer of TanzTheaterMünster .

Life

Hans Henning Paar, who completed his training as a scholarship holder of the Heinz Bosl Foundation at the Musikhochschule in Munich , made a name for himself as a young choreographer with a 3rd place in the choreography competition in Hanover in 1988 . Couple found engagements as a solo dancer in Ulm , Gelsenkirchen and Dortmund . In 1994 he worked as a solo dancer and choreographer for the Ballet do Theatro Guaira in Curitiba , Brazil .

He held his first position as ballet director from 1996–99 at the Stadttheater Nordhausen , then from 1999 to 2001 he moved to the Staatstheater Kassel . In 2001 he took over the management of the Braunschweig State Theater . From 2007 he was ballet director at the State Theater on Gärtnerplatz in Munich .

As a choreographer, Paar first became known through reworking classics such as Swan Lake , The Nutcracker or Giselle - what if ? In recent years, however, he has often devoted himself to contemporary theatrical productions on the basis of literature such as B. because everyone kills what they love , a dance theater evening about Oscar Wilde , I want to dip my soul , a dance evening about German romanticism or a new interpretation of Igor Stravinsky's Der Feuervogel and Le sacre du printemps . With the world premiere of Les Autres in Munich based on texts by the French author Jean Genet , Paar successfully introduced himself to his new audience in Munich. In the meantime, Paar brought out the revival of The Little Prince and the new production Copy Coppelia based on motifs by ETA Hoffmann .

Paar has been involved in charity events for AIDS relief for years and is a member of the advisory board of the Iwanson Sixt Foundation for Contemporary Dance . During his time in Munich he organized the Munich Aids Dance Gala at the Gärtnerplatztheater on World AIDS Day with contributions from international soloists as well as with students from the Munich Ballet Academy and the Munich Iwanson School .

As a guest choreographer he worked several times for the Goethe Institute at the VNOB National Opera in Hanoi, Vietnam, the Opera Baltyca Danzig, and the National Ballet Ankara in Turkey.
