Jochen Heckmann

Jochen Heckmann (* 1968 in Villingen-Schwenningen ) is a German choreographer , dancer and dance teacher.

Life

Having grown up in Bad Dürrheim , after graduating from high school, he began professional dance and pedagogy training in Germany at the Weber / Gleaton private specialist academy in Erlangen. After 3 semesters he moved to Paris for a further two years with a scholarship to the "Academie de danse classique" (Solange Golovine) and to the contemporary dance schools "Theater de la danse" (Martine Harme) and Studios Peter Goss, in order to receive a stage dancer diploma to complete his training. Then he danced a. a. in Switzerland and Germany in the ensembles Contemporary Dance Zurich, Ballett-Theater Hagen, Movers as a soloist and worked with various choreographers , such as Paula Lansley, Richard Wherlock , Ed Wubbe, Itzik Galili, Jonathan Lunn, Myriam Naisy, Jacqueline Beck, Nils Christe , Jürg Burth and many more.

In 1995 he founded his own ensemble LOOPING contemporary dance company in Zurich and received a. a. the annual subsidies from the city of Zurich, support from the Pierino Ambrosoli Foundation, the Migros Culture Percentage and PRO HELVETIA. Until 1999 he completed numerous domestic and international tours in Europe. From 1999 to 2007 Jochen Heckmann was ballet director and chief choreographer of the Ballett-Theater-Augsburg . He has been a freelance artist since 2007 and was “artist in residence” at the Stadttheater Kempten from 2007 to 2011 .

Guest choreographies led him a. a. to Portugal , England , Denmark , the Czech Republic , Poland , Switzerland , Austria and to various theaters in Germany. He worked together with the director Christof Loy at the Glyndebourne Opera Festival / GB and at the Salzburg Festival / A. For his dance and choreographic skills, he has received several awards in Germany, Japan, Denmark and Switzerland.

As a teacher he has been teaching contemporary dance and choreography at ARENA225 (Zurich), Swiss Ballet Vocational School (SBBS / Zurich), ZHdK Dance Academy, Iwanson School Munich, Cologne Music University, etc. a. m. He gives training and coaching lessons for freelance and permanent dance ensembles and master classes all over Europe. Since 2003 he has been leading the “Contemporary Dance” master class during the Irsee Art Summer . In 2008 he took over the artistic direction of the renowned 12th "Swiss International Training Course in Choreography" (SiWiC) in Zurich.

From summer 2013 he will take on the position of Artistic Director at the newly formed "Higher Technical School for Contemporary and Urban Stage Dance" in Zurich. The training facility is integrated in the new Herdern dance competence center in Zurich's Westend and offers dance studies with a state-recognized diploma as a stage dancer.

Heckmann has also been dealing with literary writing since 2005 and has completed a distance learning course in fiction . For 3 semesters he was enrolled as a guest auditor at the University of Tübingen in the studio for literature and stage with Dagmar Leupold . In 2008 he received the Mannheim Heinrich Vetter Literature Prize for his short prose "Green Feet" .
