Yyy

Iy was a high ancient Egyptian official who probably served in the 5th Dynasty (about 2504 to 2347 BC).

Iy is known from his mastaba (LS 20 / C 26) in Saqqara . The tomb was examined in the 19th century by various researchers who also copied and published parts of the inscriptions. The false door of his wife in particular has been preserved and was later brought to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo (inventory number CG 57124).

Iy had various titles that indicate that he was an expedition leader. His highest title is head of all the king's labors . In addition, he was the seal of God in the two boats (an expedition title), overseer of the two boats , chief of troops and privy councilor of all foreign countries . His wife was the priestess of Neith Nefret.

The dating of the Iy is uncertain. He may belong to the 5th dynasty.
