Izet Nanić
Izet Nanić (born October 4, 1965 in Bužim ; † August 5, 1995 in Ćorkovača) was a Bosnian officer and posthumous brigadier general (1996).
biography
Nanić was the son of Rasima and Ibrahim Nanić and grew up with six siblings. He attended the primary school in Buzim, then the military academies in Zagreb , Belgrade and Sarajevo . He then finished his training in Belgrade and served in Kragujevac as an officer in the JNA . After the great tension in Croatia , war broke out. Nanić feared a deployment to Vukovar; however, he broke his leg and returned to Bužim in early 1992. There he became the commander of the 105th later 505th Brigade of Bužim and commander of the 5th Corps Bihać of the Armija Republike Bosne i Hercegovine (ARBIH).
Nanić died in Operation Oluja in 1995 . He left behind his wife and three children.
To this day he is considered a national hero for the Bosniaks .
