Izora Armstead

Izora Rhodes Armstead (born July 6, 1942 in Texas , † September 16, 2004 in San Leandro , California ) was an American singer.

biography

Izora Armstead was part of the pop duo The Weather Girls , which also included Martha Wash . In the early 1980s, the two were successful. They landed their biggest hit in 1983 with It's Raining Men , which occupied first place in the American dance charts for weeks. Since the hit was not followed by any more, the two separated.

Izora Armstead moved to Germany , where she and her daughter Dynelle Rhodes revived the duo in the 1990s. Among other things, they took part in the preliminary rounds for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2002 .

Shortly before her death, she returned to California for treatment for a heart condition, where she died in hospital on September 16, 2004. Armstead was married twice and had seven children.
