Martha Wash
Martha Wash (born December 28, 1953 in San Francisco , California ) is an American singer .
biography
Wash started her career as a background singer for Sylvester James . With her colleague Izora Armstead , she founded the band Two Tons o 'Fun, which was later renamed The Weather Girls and had a top hit with It's Raining Men .
After The Weather Girls split in the late 1980s, Martha Wash lent her voice to various house acts , including Black Box and C + C Music Factory . However, due to her obesity, she was replaced by playback singers in the music videos.
In 1993 she released her first CD under her own name Martha Wash . In 1996 and 1997 she recorded two successful hits with Todd Terry and Jocelyn Brown , Keep on Jumping and Something's Going On . In 1997 she released The Collection , a best-of album with the greatest hits of her 20-year career.
