Jocelyn Lorette Brown (* 25. November 1950 in Kinston , North Carolina ) is an American R & B - and dance - singer of African descent. With the song Somebody Else's Guy , she was able to place on the American Billboard Hot 100 in 1984 .

biography

Jocelyn Brown was already a member of disco groups such as Bad Girls, Inner Life, Musique and the Salsoul Orchestra in the 1970s . She later worked with Incognito . She also sang as a backing vocalist for Luther Vandross , George Benson and John Lennon . Also DJ Bobo she borrowed his album for some tracks World in Motion (1996), for example. B. Don't Stop the Music , your voice. From the a cappella version of their 1985 song Love Is Gonna Get You , SNAP! the line I've Got the Power and landed their first number one hit with the song The Power . In 1992 she sang in the song Don't Talk Just Kiss by Right Said Fred , which reached the top 3 of the charts in Germany and England.

Brown had 20 hits in the dance - and House - Charts . This also includes the four number one hits Love's Gonna Get You (1986), Keep on Jumpin ' (1996), Something's Goin' On (1997) and Fun (1998). In the early 1990s, she began singing for house music projects. During this time, the successful track I'm a Woman , which she recorded together with Cassius in 2002, was created.

Brown is still working on various musical projects today, including Ultra Naté , Kim Mazelle, Motiv8 and Roy Ayers .
